Heat Up Your Summer Style With Hot Festival Looks

Story by Jelina Cortero

Festival Season has begun and is already leaving its fashion mark for 2019. The upcoming summer concerts have unofficially (but officially) kicked off the summer style with Coachella.

Coachella has been an iconic headliner stage for artists, but has also become a playground for fans to show off their style as well. Coachella has been most known for its Bohemian, or “boho,” style of dressing.

From unique crochet tops and flirty skirts, to high waisted shorts and cutoff jeans, you can see girls wearing a variety of boho chic and free flowing styles. The outfits feature a modernized 1960s and 1970s fashion vibe, but has since revolutionized festival attire. Legendary Coachella queens Vanessa Hudgens, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Nina Dobrev and Shay Mitchell were spotted this year with outfits that were simple, whimsical and Instagram-worthy.

There are a few festivals coming up this summer including Lollapalooza, EDC, Camp Flog Gnaw and Rolling Loud. Each of these concerts have different line-ups, themes and vibes, so finding the perfect outfit can be difficult if you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into.

Lollapalooza

It is a bit similar to the style of Coachella, but not as extravagant. You can wear a sundress or sun hat with a nice pair of sunglasses. Fringe dresses and hippie tunics are a favorite to wear, as well as any classic romper.

EDC

It’s also known as the Electric Daisy Carnival and is majorly different from Coachella and Lollapalooza. It’s held in Las Vegas and gathers a global audience. EDC is a dance music festival that features electronic dance music from artists and DJs such as Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Zedd and much more. Its use of neon lights, bright colors and three-dimensional superstructures makes it an unforgettable and thrilling experience.

However, because of its high energy, crowded areas and thrilling environment people tend to wear out the ordinary looks. Bright colors and accessories are a key element in dressing for EDC. Fans want to stand out in the dark and sparkle in the light. Girls usually wear florals, bedazzled bras with face jewels, and guys tend to wear decorated face masks or brightly colored tank tops.

EDC attire is probably the most revealing of the festivals as you can wear pretty much nothing and no one will say a thing. Fishnet leggings, spandex and lingerie are all common to wear. Some of the bolder fans wear neon wigs, furry boots and character inspired onesies.

Camp Flog Gnaw and Rolling Loud are both hip-hop and trending music concerts. The style here is a little more chill and relaxed, tie-dye is one of the most common styles you’ll see.

Camp Flog Gnaw

As with any concert, you can wear anything you want, but majority of the fans tend to wear colorful Tyler the Creator inspired styles to Camp Flog Gnaw, as he is the creator of the festival and themes his entire concert around the artists involved. You can see fans wearing artist merchandise to floral tops and Tyler the Creator’s iconic pink donut.

Rolling Loud

The attire is more hip-hop influenced and sporty chic. Fans wear their favorite artists concert tees, merchandise or branded sports wear and, of course, styled with a fashionable fanny pack.

Festival Season is taking off with a head start on trendy, summer outfits. Hopefully these will give you an idea of what to wear and how to have the perfect style for the best concert experience.
