The weather is warming up; finals are quickly approaching but that just means summertime is right around the corner. What better way to wind down after a stressful spring semester than an afternoon spent sipping a summer Syrah? Better yet you don’t have to road trip to wine country to enjoy the perfect pinot. Long Beach and Orange County are home to some of the best Southern California wineries and tasting rooms. Add these SoCal wineries to your summer bucket list ASAP.

If you are a Long Beach native you won’t have to travel far to enjoy the one-of-a-kind Malibu Wines Queen Mary tasting room. Located on the promenade deck aboard the Queen Mary is Malibu Wines only tasting room on the water. Although they do not serve food you can walk around the deck of the historic ship and enjoy a complete wine tasting overlooking the picturesque seascape. Who doesn’t love high quality wine for a low budget price? Head over to Seal Beach Winery located off Cerritos Avenue in Seal Beach for their weekday deals. Created by a doctor turned winemaker their wines have won awards from Wine Enthusiast Magazine, 2017 Harvest Challenge, and Orange County Wine Society. They feature weekly specials including Wednesday “Wine Down”, get any glass of wine for $7, Thursday “Date Night”, you and your honey can get 10% off any cheese or chocolate plate, or Friday “Fun Friday”, get any glass of wine is $8 when you purchase a bottle or growler. For those of you who prefer a smaller more intimate tasting experience you should visit The Wine Crush off of East Broadway in Long Beach. They are a “hole in the wall” boutique winery but nonetheless offer an impressive wine collection. They pride themselves on their exclusive selection of small production, hard to find wines. They value quality over quantity in their wines and schedule their tastings to highlight a specific wine style each weekend. Don’t live in Long Beach? Don’t worry! Pali Wine Co. is located in the Anaheim Packing District, a great middle ground between Los Angeles and Orange County. Typically wineries offer discounts on tastings if you belong to their wine club but Pali offers a flat rate of $15 per tasting which includes five different wines whether you are their wine club member or not. They have a family friendly environment with trivia nights every Thursday, and also offer happy hour specials 4 p.m. to 7p.m. Monday through Thursday. In addition to their high quality wine selection Pali Wine Co. offers a full menu including charcuterie plates, flatbreads, sandwiches and desserts. For those of you who live closer to Orange County, you must visit Laguna Canyon Winery in Laguna Beach, Orange County’s first urban winery.  Nestled within the beautiful Laguna Beach canyon you can enjoy the native canyon landscape during your tasting and then head into downtown Laguna Beach for a variety of dining options next to the ocean. Laguna Canyon Winery will be hosting its Bi-Annual Wine Blending Party for All from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. May 18, 2019. Live music lover? Orange Coast Winery is the place for you. Located off West 16th Street in Newport Beach this costal winery hosts live music 6:30 p.m every Wednesday night. This unique winery is quick to partner with organizations to host fundraiser events such as their upcoming Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue Wine and Wags Fundraiser on May 18, 2019.
