Fashion Police host Kelly Osbourne added fuel to her ongoing feud with pop star Lady Gaga in this month’s issue of Cosmopolitan. The purple-haired fashionista did not hold her tongue when it came to her feelings toward Gaga, calling her a “great, big hypocrite.” The feud between the two began in early 2012 when Osbourne criticized the pop singer on The Fashion Police, for skipping the red carpet at the Grammys.
"Being part of the music industry is walking the red carpet, you say hello to your fans and you give back to those reporters and those who supported you,” said Osbourne on-air. “When you go to an award show and you don’t walk a red carpet I find that to be disrespectful.”
The comment by Osbourne resulted in many Gaga's fans attacking and even threatening The Fashion Police host via twitter.
“Don't say, 'When you see bullying, intervene,' while letting your fans send me death threats. If my fans did that, I would not stand for it,” said Osbourne to Cosmopolitan. Osbourne did not stop there; she continued her candid interview by stating that she believed that Gaga was "feeding on the freaks and geeks" for her own success.
Gaga has made no comment regarding Osbourne's interview with Cosmopolitan, but when the feud first began in early 2012 she made it clear in an open letter posted in Osbourne's web page, that Osbourne is not innocent in all of this.
"Your show breeds negativity, and over the years has even become comedic in nature," Gaga wrote. "It glorifies you and Joan Rivers pointing in the camera, laughing, and making jokes about artists and celebrities as if we are zoo animals." However, in a weird change of tone Gaga did end the letter with an apology to Osbourne. "I cannot control my fans, and I discourage them from any negativity and violence, because that is wrong and hurtful -- and I do feel badly that your feelings were hurt,” Gaga stated.
This letter however did nothing to relax the feud and in a strange turn of events it was not Osbourne who responded, but her equally famous mother, “The Talk” host Sharon Osbourne. Sharon Osbourne fired back by posting her own open letter on Facebook. The very public letter made it clear that Sharon was not fooled by Gaga's anti-bullying stance and even slammed Gaga by calling it "bullshit." Sharon Osbourne went on to accuse the pop star of being a bully herself and using the situation with her daughter to seek attention. Daughter Kelly had remained mostly silent about the situation after the two open letters until her recent comment through Cosmopolitan.
With her public anti-bullying views and apparent lack of effort to attempt to speak out against her fans’ harsh and heartless bullying, it is hard to defend the pop artist from Kelly Osbourne’s wrath. Fans can only hope that in the future the “Born This Way” artist will back up her anti-bullying views with her actions. For now the public can sit back and wait for the backlash that is sure to come on behalf of Lady Gaga fans.
