Quirky sweatshirts, bold colors, leather, lace and long skirts; fall fashion is all about the playful ease and use of one fashionable piece, in simple coordination, with everything else you already own. Givenchy's fall collection introduced a quirky play on sweatshirts for this season. Think of the sweater your grandmother would make you, during those cold winters, but with an added edge. There, you have this season'shottest trend.
Decked with wreaths of pansy print flowers and panthers, Givenchy's black sweaters created quite a roar this season. Balenciaga backed this trend, as well, with his sweatshirts featuring lovable German Shepherds. It seems this wolf pack grows as more designers put-out their animal-featured sweaters.
These playful sweaters are perfect to throw over your favorite pair of jeans, or even over this summer'shigh-waisted shorts, creating a retro-chic look. You can be sure to find these affordable Givenchy and Balenciaga inspired sweaters at TopShop or your local Urban Outfitters.
In addition to strikingly unconventional sweatshirts, bright colors will create a lively, bold look for the fall. Color blocked dresses, tops, such as those seen in Chloé'sfall collection, solid bright colored pants and outerwear create anything but unnoticeable looks. Instead of a black or cream trench, opt for scarlet, emerald, cobalt or yellow. This season'souterwear allows you to turn your current look into an attention-getter, must-have-outfit for the season. The same goes for pants as seen in 3.1 Phillip Lim's collection, featuring cobalt and emerald trousers.
Leather is known to be a classic for outerwear, but this season it is coming back as a must-have staple in all types of garments. Leather skirts and pants go in and out of fashion quite frequently, but now is the time to invest in your own pair because this season, they are definitely "in." Pair up pants, or a skirt, with a leather jacket and boots for the complete leather effect or tone it down with leather pants under an oversized denim button-down. Softer leather looks will also appear this fall with pieces such as blush colored leather vests.
With the toughness of leather typically comes the sweet femininity of lace. This season's designers such as Bottega Veneta added lace, from spray-painted accents to full lace ensembles. Just like leather, lace is sweeter in lighter colors, but if you're going for a tougher girly ensemble, pair leather and black lace. Simple femininity will also appear in fall fashion with shades of red and fuller, longer skirts.
Designers smeared red all across the runways, making it the clear "it" color for this season. Go bold with a cherry dress and matching lip-gloss. Sweeten the look up with nude pumps and a Michael Kor's rose gold watch, in high demand this season. Or you can always choose to toughen up the look with heeled boots and a timeless trench.
If an entire red frock is a little daring for your taste, try red denim or high-waisted trousers. For just a splash of red, try a classic crimson lip or a solid red satchel seen at Chloé. This is an investment that will get you through many seasons to come. Red is instant feminine power, as well as a statement color that is easy to throw on while staying true to the flow of this season's fashions.
A Long, 1950s style full skirt is another feminine look for the fall. Do away with the mini skirts and adopt this conservative, yet, classy trend in a neutral color, which will easily become a classic. For an effortless, sexy and conservative look, pair a below-the-knee skirt with skyscraper heels and a tailored top.
From summer outfits that showed off your legs in the sun to a back-to-school fall wardrobe, it will be an easy transition that won't empty your bank account. Just remember, it only takes adding a few key pieces to the clothes in your closet to adopt this fall's fashion trends of lace, leather, and stand out colors.
