One coat, three ways

It’s finally starting to feel like winter here in Southern California. With temperatures dropping into the 60’s, SoCal natives are experiencing culture shock and pulling out their winter attire. I’ve put together three different ways to wear a statement coat this holiday season, to help all you Californians deal with this weather in style. The coat:
First, pick out your go-to coat for the season. I tend to sway toward neutral clothing items, so I chose a statement coat that adds to and complements my neutral attire. I love this oversized, black and gray cheetah print one from Nordstrom. It’s the perfect mix of simplicity and statement.
For outfit one, I chose to pair my coat with my favorite pair of black jeggings (an Elison Road find) with a denim button up. The denim is casual, but the coat dresses it up, especially paired with a necklace. You could easily use any statement necklace that catches your eye with neutral pieces like the ones I just described. I would even recommend a colored one to add a pop of color to a neutral outfit like mine. Lastly, I threw on my favorite Steve Madden boots. This outfit is perfect for any casual or even nice-casual holiday events you have planned.
Outfit two, has more of a bohemian vibe to it. With my statement coat, I paired my boyfriend jeans (check out Madewell for a good pair!) with my all-time favorite oversized sweater (found at H&M) with a pair of black booties (also found at H&M). This outfit still embodies that nicer-casual style, but with a different, more relaxed vibe. This is perfect for those days you want to be comfortable but still look super cute.
For outfit three, I wanted to show you all how to pair a casual coat with more of a dressy piece, which is perfect for all of the holiday parties consuming our calendars. I went with this festive, holiday-style dress from ASOS. It’s the perfect piece of class to add to a statement coat. Not to mention, a red dress and black heels are perfect for the holidays. Also, if you’re looking for a way to change up the way you wear your coat, drape it over your shoulders instead of wearing it (a perfect addition when wearing a nice dress).
