Express holiday cheer with nail polish

Show some holiday spirit without having to throw on a funky Christmas sweater by breaking out the red, white, green and gold nail polish for some fun holiday nails. Here are some fun ideas, ranging from simple designs like stripes with a tint of gold, to creative ones inspired by Santa Claus and other Christmas-themed designs. Whatever you choose, you’ll need a few nail polish colors, clear tape and a skilled hand.

Peppermint nails

For this look, you’ll need red and white nail polish and clear tape.

  1. Prep your nails with a base coat and paint two-three coats of a white nail polish
  2. When the white nail polish is dry, paint red diagonal stripes across the nail. If you feel like your hand isn’t steady enough, you can use clear tape strips keep the stripes straight.
  3. You can add glitter or thinner stripes of green or gold to the design
  4. Finish the design with a clear top coat.

Santa cap nails

For this design, you’ll need red and white nail posh, a base coat of your choosing and a thin nail polish brush.

  1. Prep your nails with a base coat and paint two coats of a shade, whether it is clear, nude or green.
  2. Using the thin nail polish brush, paint a red triangle to about 2/3 of your nail.
  3. When the red polish is dry, paint a small white circle for the tip of the hat.
  4. Then with the white polish, paint a white strip at the end of your nail but make sure the edge of the strip lying on the red hat has circular edges.
  5. Finish your design with a clear top coat.

Rudolph nails

This design requires a little more creativity, a steady hand and a thinner nail polish brush. You’ll also need white, brown, black and red nail polish.

  1. Prep your nails with a base coat and paint two-three shades of a white nail polish.
  2. Once it’s dry, paint a semi- circle using the brown nail polish. Add triangles to the top for Rudolph’s ears.
  3. When the brown nail polish has dried, paint two white circles and one red circle for Rudolph’s eyes and nose.
  4. After the white nail polish has dried, dot two black circles in the middle to finish the eyes.
  5. Finish your design with a clear top coat.
  6. As shown in the picture, you can use the Rudolph design as an accessory nail or design all of your nails the same.
