Transitioning into fall fashion

That’s how I describe those weird weather changes as we transition from summer to fall. One minute you're ready to strip down to your panties from the heat but once the sun goes down and hits the low 60’s, you're rummaging through your closet to find those jackets you stashed away for the summer.
Fall is right around the corner, which means two things: fall semester and the start of the best fashion season. So here are some fall essentials that are great pieces to combine with your summer favorites.
One of the best ways to transform your summer clothes to a more fall-friendly look is by throwing on a jacket. Classic jackets such as a fitted blazer, leather Moto jacket or a bomber jacket, can make your outfit classy, edgy, or sporty in an instant.
A blazer is a must have item in your wardrobe. Not only does it add a sophisticated flare to an outfit, but it can also be very versatile for tons of different occasions such as job interviews or dinner dates. Blazers are one of the easiest pieces to dress up or down.
And who doesn't feel like a bad ass wearing a little leather? Leather has been a fall trend since last year and is coming back bigger than ever, from leather shirts to leather trousers. This trend can go bad very fast, so go for a cool and casual, grunge-chic look. Try not to cross that line into becoming Cat Women, walking around campus with head to toe leather. Save that for Halloween.
If you have not already noticed the biggest spring/summer trend was the “Sporty Chic” look and it is not going anywhere. This trend is continuing into the fall for both men and women. This summer has been filled with sports-inspired crop tops, and a great way to get more wear out of those garments is by pairing them with a sleek bomber jacket, which adds a tomboy vibe.
You know those long sleeve blouses you've been holding out on wearing? Well bust them out and cuff, roll, and scrunch them up! Chiffon blouses are ideal not only in the fall and winter for layering but great for this “awkward” stage in the season. Chiffon long sleeves such as these are perfect since they are light enough for the mid-day heat with cuffed sleeves but can also be worn throughout the day when the sun sets and the breeze picks up. They can also help balance out your summer booty shorts with more coverage on top. California girls and our shorts stay year round.
The most economic way to updated your summer closet with fall essentials are with accessories. The curb chain is back and I love it! It’s one of those accessories that can go both girly to super edgy and urban. It was the go-to accessory this summer and can easily be transitioned into the fall by adding a bit of color (like the one pictured) and will definitely make a statement contrasting with falls renown dark color scheme. Another great way to add color to your fall outfits is with scarves, specifically the infinity scarf. Infinity scarves add depth and texture, they are super comfy, and they come in cool prints so you can mix and match.
The best way to transition from summer style to fall is to work with what you got. So work it!
