DIY Wednesday: Midi Rings
BY: MAITTE SOLIS
Stack them up! Midi rings have been all the rage for quite some time now, and we’re quite obsessed here at Dig. However, who wants to pay 10 dollars for 2 little itsy bitsy rings that'll most likely get lost on your first outing with them? I don’t! So here is a DIY for simple chic midi rings that could save you a couple bucks while staying on trend.
What you will need can all be purchased at Michael's.
1. A roll of wire (color of your choice) gauge size 18 2. A pair of pliers
Here we go!
First step, hold the tip of the wire with one hand while holding the pliers in another. Start at the tip of the wire and begin to bend the wire into a small “C”.
The “C” shape will be the size of the ring, so as you bend, take a moment and fit it to your finger--more specifically over your knuckles since that is where midi rings are worn.
Once you have your desired size, cut off the “C” shape you created with the sharp part of the pliers.
Since the wire is a bit flexible, rework the “C” so that you get an even circle.
VOILA! You just made your very own midi ring. Repeat the steps to create as many rings as you'd like.
Midi rings look great with a couple of other midi rings worn together.
Once you've grasped the idea, try to get creative!
Twist and turn the wire to make your name or a unique saying into a ring. This is a bit more challenging and will take a few tries to get it right, however, with the roll of wire you should be able to get plenty of rings and attempts out of it.
Go ahead, give it a try!
