DIG Appetit: Stacked

For a unique, one-of-a-kind dining experience, Stacked is the place to go. This technologically innovative restaurant in Cerritos, Calif. has revolutionized the way to order food. Instead of traditional hardcopy menus, an IPad is available at every table for people to essentially create their own meal starting with the drink and ending with the dessert. The first step is to choose your drink, which in most cases you can add flavors too. They have a variety of soft drinks, iced teas, and alcoholic beverages. Appetizers include burger sliders, wings, chicken bites, onion rings, and a variety of french fry dishes. To complement the appetizers, you can choose from a variety of sauces like BBQ, garlic, sriracha, chipotle, curry, and of course, the traditional ketchup, ranch, and mayonnaise.

The main entrees are burgers or pizzas. They do offer their choice of creations, but they encourage you to create your own. The thin crust pizza I created had sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil pesto sauce. It was really neat to eat the vision that I had just created, and it was equally as satisfying to taste. On the other hand, what is nice about the “stacking” your own burger is that you have free choice in choosing exactly what you want on it, even if it is a choice as interesting as peanut butter. In the end, your creations will always taste right because the chefs as Stacked do whatever they can to make them taste exactly like you imagined. The display of the dishes is very interesting and fits the contemporary style of the whole environment of Stacked.

For dessert, you can “stack” your own ice cream sandwich. You first choose from a wide range of traditional cookies like chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, oatmeal, and peanut butter cookies. Then, you choose the flavor ice cream that will provide the best flavor to complement your cookie, and create ice cream sandwich perfection.

Any meal at Stacked is an adventure in its own. The whole architecture and environment of the restaurant is contemporary, and very relaxed. The service offered by the staff is great because as soon as you ask for their help on the IPad, they show up to help you within seconds, and they will even advise you when deciding how to create the perfect meal. It is pricey, but extremely worth it because it is not something that you can experience everyday.
