About Karla Diaz
Karla Diaz is an activist, artist and writer born and raised in Los Angeles who often uses performance, writing and installation to explore social practices and cultural relationships in contemporary art. In particular she uses collaborative, pedagogical methods to facilitate and create dialogue among diverse communities. She received an MFA from California Institute of the Arts. She has exhibited her work locally, nationally and internationally in different art venues such as LACMA, MOCA, and the Serpentine Gallery.
About Mario Ybarra, Jr.
Mario Ybarra Jr. is a conceptual artist also born and raised in Los Angeles. His artwork operates as examinations of excluded social norms, often examining complete environments, histories and narratives. He received an MFA from University of California Irvine. He has been featured in many local, national and international exhibitions including the 2008 Whitney biennal, the Tate Museum in London, and the “California Biennial” at the Orange County Museum, among others
